Peer Support & Advocacy

What is peer support?

In addition to my work doing mowing & maintenance, plus scrap metal recycling & rubbish removal, I also run Northern Advocacy and Casework Services, where I use my life experiences to help others.

As an advocate, I provide peer support to disadvantaged and disabled clients, helping them navigate complex systems such as the NDIS, Office of Housing applications and other government programs. Drawing on many years of experience, and well-cultivated professional networks, I’ve been able to help with things like NDIS applications, Disability Support Pension applications, appeals and more. I’m also good at helping people to apply for fine reductions and to improve their credit defaults and credit history, or to decrease their household utility bills.

In the course of this work, I’ve helped clients get assessments for ADHD, Autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders. I have assisted clients to be assessed for and then medicated for their ADHD.

It’s often difficult to find the right specialist the first time. I’ve seen the wrong specialist many times. Now that I’ve built connections, I’ve been able to help refer clients to services and specialists who can provide the support and expertise they need.

Paperwork might be necessary, but it can be daunting! It helps to have the support of someone who knows what to look out for.
