Hello, I'm Alex!

I run a small business in Diamond Creek. It’s an NDIS-supported occupational therapy return to work program, helping me find purpose and manage my career alongside my autism and PTSD.

Part of my business is collecting 10c drink containers under the Container Deposit Scheme. This aids my quality of life, but also benefits the community, as I take containers to Whittlesea Community House for processing. They receive a separate handling fee per container, so every eligible item you donate helps support their food bank and other programs.

Got drink containers you want to recycle, but don’t have the time? I can provide you with a large barrel that you pop them in. When it’s ready for collection, just send me a text message and I’ll come and pick it up within a few days, contactlessly.

In addition to recycling drink containers – and scrap metal, too! – I provide peer support and case management work, helping clients navigate the complex systems in the disability/criminal justice/housing/neurological assessments/government services sectors. For example, I’ve used my own lived experience to help people with NDIS applications, appeals and assessments.

Recycling

Meercut Mowing proudly supports environmental cleanup and community recycling efforts. Since the schemes Inception on November 01st 2023; we have donated over 40,000 containers to the CDS. Recently we partnered with Whittlesea Community Centre to process our containers at their facility where they get paid an additional handling fee, which funds their community programs and foodbank.
